Converted Sublimation Printers

Have you converted an Epson ET printer into a sublimation printer? Do you recommend converting a printer or just buying a sublimation printer? For those of you that have an Epson ET 8550 and or Epson ET 15000, which one do you prefer and why? For those of you that have a sublimation printer (not converted) does it have gray ink and photo black ink?

I have just bought a conversion kit for my Epson PX710W.

It’s an older model that uses cartridges only, so the kit includes refillable carts with resettable chips. The quality of print is outstanding with normal inks, so I’m hoping for the same with the dye sub inks. I’m looking forward to getting it converted to make some different projects for family Xmas prezzies.

I’ve always loved Epson’s photo printers, going all the way back to my Commodore Amiga days!

If you want to do shirts I recommend getting a 1500 I had gotten a regular sized one first then after two years I got the 1500 as well so I have a small one and a larger one available o print the bigger pages 11x17 if it’s in your budget and you want shirt size prints you don’t need to do in parts I recommend the 1500. Converted printers last about 3 years will the ink pads fill my original one made it 4. So that is something to keep in mind as well.

I don’t have a Sublimation printer, but when I get one I would go straight for the real deal not a conversion. I guess it would depend on your budget and whether or not you are selling your makes too. I’m with Judi

I have an Epson ET- 2850 and converted it to a sublimation printer. It’s not difficult as everyone makes it seem. All you need to do is fill it with sub ink instead of the ink it comes with. I use Hiipoo ink and I love it!
Hope this helps!

Right now, it looks like the sublimation printers and the ET 15000 are the same price. You made a good point, I should just get the regular sublimation printer so I won’t void my warranty and can get help if it stops working.
